Power To The People - Out Now!

Hi All and Happy 2020!

I'm starting the year off rocking with a new cover of John Lennon's Power To The People featuring musicians from some of my favorite bands and records: St. Vincent, Elle King, Midlake, Rufus Wainwright, The Fieros, Israel Nash, BNQT

I flew into Dallas, hit Producer/Guitarist Joey McClellan and Bassist Aaron McClellan's gig backing Matthew McNeal in Deep Ellum, drank too much coffee and stout, and slept for all of 5 minutes that night. We had a few vocals to record that weekend at Redwood Studios in Denton, but we started with this one because my voice was in the ideal state of disrepair. It's clearly a ridiculous thing to take a swipe at a John Lennon song, but I'm real pleased with the way it came out. There's a very fun alternate chill soul version I will release at some point too.

The lyrics to this song are way too poignant 49 years after John Lennon released it. I'm releasing a lyric video for the song next Monday.

In excellent news, DJ Leanne Merritt premiered the song on her fabulous show X-Posure on Nashville Radio Station WXNA.  And the Bernie Sanders campaign sent both my versions of Power To The People to their rally production teams along with two versions of my original So Much More!!! (Version 1Version 2)

Presidential politics and partisanship aside, I donate monthly to this organization Move To Amend, dedicated to overturning the Supreme Court's Citizens United decision that corporations are people, money is free speech, and both elections and politicians can be bought and sold. We need an actual representative democracy to get some power back to the people yo. (steps off soap box)

Thanks so much for reading, listening, and watching! As always, share about if you dig.

Neil
